Italian luxury supercar manufacturer, Lamborghini, recently unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) supercar concept which isn’t powered by traditional batteries used in modern EVs. The Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, which was designed in collaboration with MIT, is a supercapacitor-powered beast which follows the company’s edge design language.
The supercapacitor energy storage technology on the car is capable of faster recharge and discharge which is ideal for the explosive acceleration Lamborghini’s are usually associated with. Additionally, the company is exploring carbon composite battery technology for the car, which uses nanotechnology to reduce weight and increase the discharge capacity of the batteries.
As of now, the all-wheel-drive beast from Lamborghini is just a concept, but once the company perfects its battery technology you can very well expect to see one zooming past you in the near future.
